Today I decided to write my post on a drugstore starter kit. I thought this would be helpful for people who are just starting out with make up as I know it can be quite overwhelming when you walk into a shop and you have no idea what to buy.
I'm going to write them in the order I put them on my face.
1. Foundation or base.
"Rimmel wake me up" foundation.
This has light-medium coverage so it would be a good one to start out with, it also is very brightening and comes in a range of shades .
Concealer
I have two concealers which I think are great.
First the "Rimmel wake me up"concealer.
This is very good at brightening your undereyes and highlighting any other areas on your face.I would not use this to cover up blemishes as it has a bit of shimmer and it has not go the highest coverage.
"Collection lasting perfection" concealer.
This is a high coverage concealer and is great for covering any blemishes or redness. The only bad thing is I would not use it under my eyes as I find it can become cakey.
Pressed powder
I've chosen the Rimmel stay matte powder as I find it is very good at setting your make up in place and stopping you from becoming shiny. It also comes in a range of colours to suit your skin tone.
Blusher
For blusher I've picked one from the MUA range, these products can be found at superdrug and online.
The blushers are one pound and the quality of them is great. They have great pigmentation and colour pay off. These come in a number of shades but the one I've chosen is in the shade "Bubble Gum" which is a lovely bright pink shade which is perfect for the spring and summer.
Highlighter
This is not an essential step but I decided to add it in as I've really been loving the "MUA undress your skin" highlighter. The product looks amazing as well as working really well. This is great to apply to the tops of your cheekbones to make them stand out . I have the colour Irdescent Gold.
Mascara
I think this is my favourite step as mascara completes your look and really makes your eyes stand our. I would recommend either "Maybelline Lash senstaional" or "Rimmel with argon oil".These both lengthen and separate your lashes as well as adding volume so are the perfect all rounders. The Maybelline one has also been compared to Benefit roller lash as it has a very similar wand.
Eyeshadow
I don't tend to use eyeshadow very often but I would really recommend the MUA or collection pallets as they have a range of neutral shades which are great for beginners and they are all very pigmented.
Lips
I have a two lip products a lipstick and a lip gloss.
• MUA lipsticks~ these have great pigmentation, they're not drying, they come in a wide variety of colours and they come in matte or a glossy finish.
•Tanya burr lipglosses~ these are long lasting, add a nice shine and come in many colours.
Brushes
Brushes are very important as you will need them to apply your make up, even though you can use your hands I find it easier and more hygienic to use brushes. I really recommend the "Real Techniques" brushes as they are very good quality and apply make up very well .
Hope this helped!
